Panic Disorder

This is a mental disorder in the category of anxiety disorders, which spontaneously and unexpectedly manifests as panic attacks. A panic attack is a disorder that usually comes on suddenly, lasts less than 30 minutes on average, and can present with symptoms such as difficulty breathing, rapid heartbeat, numbness or tingling, fear of death, etc. People with panic disorder often experience anxiety about a future seizure between seizures. This can lead to safety-seeking and avoidance behaviours that can make everyday life difficult. It is known that the incidence in the general population is 1.5-3.8%. The goal of treatment is both to prevent panic attacks and to reduce anxiety between attacks. It is a mental disorder with a high probability of successful treatment with psychotherapy and psychopharmacology.
